This weekend is Paris-Roubaix, arguably the most famous cycling race of the spring classics. And for that reason, ‘A Sunday in Hell‘, the 1976 Danish documentary written and directed by Jørgen Leth about the race, should be a regular fixture in the Easter
The film follows in particular the tactics and movements of Eddy Merckx, Roger de Vlaeminck (’76 winner), Freddy Maertens and Francesco Moser. I have to day that my favourite part of the film is its opening, where a mechanics gently prepares a bike.
